Car won't take gas past 1500 rpm

I have a 1987 trans am 305 tpi. It will run fine until I hit around 1500 rpm and it quits taking gas. If I keep my foot in it it just spudders and dies and it takes it while before it will start again. It idles fine it just seems like it's not getting enough gas or something. I changed the fuel filter and it didn't help at all. Any ideas?

it souds like a elektrical problem did u check your coil. when you idle in park or nuetral does it go past 1500 rpm? if you have some good jackstands, block the fronw wheels with block or something good, raise the back put it in gear and see if it does the same.

Check the little hose that connects to the fuel pump in the tank.
Mine acted the same way and I found a split in that little hose.
Hope you find you problem.

first thing i would do is pickup a fuel pressure gauge. that would be the quickest way to determine if you fp is dying on you. if you maintain fuel pressure but car dies anyway, then you can focus on electrical or spark related failure

thats the one i picked up.. works great.
