Well worn question, need cam suggestion....
I searched the forum but this question depends on to many variables to be answered by a search engine.
I have an 87 IROC and it runs high twelves with the current set up. See below plus a set of old Trick Flow heads with shot valve springs.
I have a new set of AFR 195cc Eliminator heads sitting on the bench along with a set of Cometic head gaskets that should put the CR at 9.8 ish to 1.
I would like to install a larger cam while the heads are off. The current cam is a Comp Cam, HR 276 ???. The lift is .488 I, 509E.
To be re used - ZZ4 short block ( 10K miles on it), SLP T-Ram intake ( runner length of +/- 11") Arizona Speed and Marine 58mm TB, stock GM C4 24 lb injectors or 2002 GM LS1 injectors, MSD Pro billet distributor, MSD 6AL box, MSD coil, SLP 1 3/4" shorty headers, SLP single 3" cat back, Random Tech 3" cat, Crower SS roller rockers, Ed Hamburger oil pan, 2bl roller timing chain set, 700 R4 with 2800 stall lock up convertor, stock 3.42 geared rear diff ( when it blows it will get an after market rear), and 245 45 17 tires.
It is not a dailey driver and I would like to get as much performance out of the new AFR set up as possible. The computer is stock, but has a custom Ed Wright chip in it now. I dont plan to go with an aftermarket computer and wil have to pay some one to tune this set up. It still has a stock MAF.
Any cam suggestions would be appreciated.
