Hey! I have a TPI Setup, to be specific the manifold is from an 87 TPI. Well, I had a broken bolt in it when I got it, so I sent it to a pro to have it drilled and have a timesert put in... its basically a helicoil on steroids. Then I put it together, it diddnt leak for a while, and then finally it started blowing that gasket. Replaced the gasket... blew it again. Okay so I took it off again, and ground everything flush, and put it together with Silicone. Then I drove it, and pissed coolant everywhere. Should I put a gasket in it again, and hope it doesnt blow? now that I ground it down? or maybe is the timesert not installed correctly? Everything tightens right, and it doesnt blow the gasket at idle or rev, only blows it when I start driving it and has the system up to pressure. Would be good to fix this! since I would then be able to make some videos for you all of my camaro and its setup!

Anyone ever experience this before? Tomorrow I will silicone it and throw a gasket on it at the same time early in the morning, and check it when I leave work to see if its cured and ready to test again. Just want to make sure this issue is common or uncommon!

 

My Gooseneck used to leak as well. I couldn't get it to seal either.... I bought a new one and it hasn't leaked since.

 

Fixed it! I removed the thread insert, tapped it larger, inserted a new thread insert REALLY tight (used a jam nut on the bolt to thread it in, its REALLY tight) and used Indian Head Gasket Sealer on it, sealed it right up, is not leaking. Though now my radiator has minor minor seal leaks around the tanks. it leaks air, but not liquid. Gah I can never win with cars!

 

Well your in luck as far as the radiator goes. I just installed one of the Champion ones off ebay for $215 and let me tell you what a great radiator!
