need help asap

i have a 1991 trans am gta 5.7 and when i put it in gear it wont go past 3000 rpm please help asap

do you have a msd ignition box on the car?

no i do not have an msd ignition box on it just got it so its stock except for flowmasters

does it shift b4 3K? or shift early? any surging or hesitation?

it will go over 3000rpm when in park and neutral if i try to take off it willgo up to 3000 and start sputering then i let of the gas and it shifts
