? About TPS Adjustment Procedure found on this site

Here it is https://www.thirdgen.org/tpimod2

Does the IAC need adjusting when installing a new TPS?

What is best and most importantly easiest to use when adjusting the TPS, Scanner or VOM and Jumper Wires?

I dont have a VOM or Scanner so if I am going to buy something what should I buy. I dont plan on selling the car so if I will be using this in the future I might as well go ahead and get something that can be useful for other maintenance and repairs.

So please make any and all suggestions on best to buy for this procedure and most useful in my future maintenance.

Any more hints and advice on this procedure would be appreciated as well for IAC adjustment.

Question about IAC

What is drivability like when IAC is out of adjustment.

Well let me go ahead and ask too.........

What is drivability like when TPS is vaulty and/or out of adjustment. When a TPS goes bad is it a slow and erratice failure or is it a case of it either works or it doesnt?

the TPS is seperate from the iac. but it is imperitive that the tps in correct. you need a cheep vom.. 9 bucks at radio shack. adjust it to .54 volts at idle... car off key on. term c is the 5 vlt reference a and b are the ground and out put.. WOT should be 5 volts less initial. so .54 idle, the tps should read 4.5 at WOT.. the iac has an adjustment on the pintle.. set it at 28mm from the flange and reinstall it. make sure the small air passage is clean and open.

In regards to tps adjustment, is there a different ohm setting for maf and sd systems?

No but on the later cars there is no TPS adjustment; the computer takes the inital Volts as the base.

Re: ? About TPS Adjustment Procedure found on this site

I havent bought the Voltmeter yet and havent checked my TPS but my car was stumbling bad tonite so I just unhooked my TPS. I am now going to drive the car and see if it will not stumble/sputter/cough/spit etc, etc, etc.

I am about tired of this!

Re: ? About TPS Adjustment Procedure found on this site

Just drove the thing hard. The harder I pushed it the worse the sputtering got.

WOT it would pull good then fall back like it wasnt getting fuel, then I let off the gas it would pull some like I was giving it more pedal!

As I gave it gas and let off it would pull/fallback (WOT), Pull (let off throttle only slightly).

Finally it got to where it wouldnt pull well even from a Stop sign so I shut the car off and crank it back up (while in nuetral) and BAM!!! it ran just fine until I pushed it again.

Drove it on home and now it sits. I still have some patience left but my tank is getting low with this one.

I guess its not the TPS huh.

Ill still check it anyway.
