Re: lt1 cam help

I actually have the LT1 cam in my LB9, but it hasn't run in this car yet so I don't know for sure. However, the guy I bought the engine from (good friend and GM parts counter guy so I trust his judgement) said it ran very well in his '91 T/A.

Re: lt1 cam help

The lt1 cam is not that much different from the L98 cam which could have come in the LB9 aswell. With your car being a MAf car I think you should be ok. Once you really start changing things you will need a chip but a cam this mild I would think yo uare ok.

Re: lt1 cam help

The LT1 cam with will run good with no changes to the chip needed. It's an easy swap in that will give you a solid 25 to 30 rearwheel horsepower and wake up that 305.

The LT4 hot cam is aggresive and would require you to change the valve springs in the head and require custom programming.

i went from the stock lt1 cam in my 96 to the complete lt4 kit with the hotcam and 1.6 rockers(rockers are part of the kit-i think that the lift and duration figures stated for the hotcam are based on 1.6 rockers) and the hotcam is a pretty big step up compared to the stock cam. required a complete tune of the pcm to be drivable. awesome power increase though.
