Could mat sensor be causing surging idle?
Could mat sensor be causing surging idle?
I was wondering if the manifold air temp sensor could cause driveability problems. The inside of the plenum is coated in oil coming from the egr valve. The mat sensor sticks up into the plenum from underneath and is also soaked with oil. The car has a surging idle and i thought maybe the sensor was getting false readings and may be the cause. I checked the tps and reset the iac and still the problem persists. Sometimes the car drives great and other time not. I'm stumped. Any thoughts?

I have a TPI 350. And i had the same problem you have. The surging lopey idle. And one day i decided to remove the throttle body and shoot some carb cleaner in there and I cleaned the throttle body good. Havent had the problem since. Maybe it'll help out, Charlie
