who has done it and how hard is it to do???

thanks for the links it seems a lot harder than its worth and can be expensive as well..i think i am going to start looking for a hsr

 

It is doable on the cheap if you have access to the tools and can do the work yourself.If you have to pay for the work then $600 HSR starts looking a better bolt on option.
Either option you are up for custom fuel lines and a small cap dist/ remote coil if you don't already have

 

i think it would be wayyy cheaper to do the lt1 swap than an hsr. the way i think of it is, Man up and do some work with your hands to get the lt1 to work, and save a butt load of money, or be an idiot and spend 3000 on an intake.

i can find a hsr with fuel rail for less thank 1000 maybe even less than 800 but thats direct bolt on isnt it???
just have to mod the hsr to fit my hei coil


but with the lt1 intake i need a remote tstat,new throttle cable plus the price of the intake and all the machine work that has to be done i couldnt imagine it being much less than the hsr...

 

ive seen the stealth rams modded to work with the hei so i will just do that fuel lines are no big deal

how hard is it to put a small cap distributor in place of the hei if i have a 6al and blaster coil already installed in my car....

 

how much is an lt1 intake off a caprice or somethin at the junkyard? 100 bucks? just drill your own bolt holes, weld in the dizzy hole, weld the coolant return ****. block and disable egr, remote t-stat. just put on the fuel rail, and injectors that came with the lt1. and then the afpr.

i dunno i just think the lt1 intake is definitely the way to go. Im almost sure that a ported lt1 intake will flow just as good or better than the hsr intake. Am i right? correct me if im wrong.

 

easier said then done bro especially when my tool list consists of a socket set and a cordless drill...and thats it...i dont have the time or means to go fabricating up an lt1 intake to work with my car....the hsr with fuel rail can be had for just over 500 new...and it bolts right on

 

Sounds good but engineering has to be fairly precise otherwise it will leak like a sieve

HSR flows 275 out of the box.
LTI needs some work ($$$) to get that

 

You sure ? HEI can be made to fit but you can't turn to adjust timing. Only way to get HEI on HSR is cut and weld rear for clearance which no one does.

Drop in swap with $15 HEI to small cap adapter harness and a $10 dist connector for the remote coil.

i dont understand that at all...i dont want to have to pull apart all my wiring either...it was a pain in the *** to wire up all the msd stuff on that distributor...

is there any write ups any where on how to do the distributor swap???
