just put in my 383 and thinking of getting HSR
I just stuck my pretty much stock tpi intake on top of my 383. I'm thinking of buying the holley stealth ram to help with the high end ponies. I've heard that the adjustable fuel pressure regulator goes bad quick and that the original distributor doesn't fit behind the plenum. If someone could let me in on all the stuff that needs to be changed for the hsr to work I would greatly appreciate it.

You and your 383 will probably LOVE the HSR. The small-cap distributor fits behind the plenum, and yes, my Holley AFPR just crapped-out yesterday after 1 year / maybe 2K miles. I will be installing a Kirban regulator. Today I begin adapting an EGR to the HSR. Orr89RocZ posted an excellent thread on the HSR swap, search TGO for it.

Yeah run the 87-up small cap distributors with remote coil. You can attach the coil to the firewall overhang.
Get a kirban regulator, its a quality unit for about 110 bucks these days.
Some fuel line connectors/fittings and about 6ft of -6 line and your set to run HSR. Its pretty easy to do.
Small items like waterneck/vacuum fittings and possible throttle body linkage hitting the HSR fuel rail need addressed. easy to work around it tho. 85-87 had different TB bracket i believe, i used my stocker from 89 and had to grind on the linkage alittle to clear the rail. My holley 58mm fit fine.
