Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

they could be either Bosch or Lucas injectors. both were used from 85 to 88.
they don't short out as bad as the Multecs, but are more prone to clogging.
if your having problems with them, a set of bosch 3s from southbay or FIC is a nice up grade.

I don't have any idea as to what kind of injectors those are. But I will say you have mad photographic skills. Nice to see someone that knows how to use a digital camera.

Thanks for the compliment man. It's not really the skill of taking the picture, It's quality is because of my wifes camera. She has a Kodak.
It's has 12 Mega Pixels so that's why the pic. is so clear. Specs. are found here http://www.digitalrev.com/en/Kodak-E...mera-2995.html

Ok, have your answer.... they are Lucas injectors and they flow 17.9lb at 43.5psi. Great pic, obviously very helpful!!! If you are looking for replacements we can help you with some bosch lll's.
If you have any questions you can give us a call at 516-492-6504

actually that injector is the factory OEM injector installed in 85-88 305 LB9's.. The GM part number is 10108480. The internet has the data as 17.9 at 43.5.. That is incorrect. The injector is 17.9 at 35psi and 19 at 43.5. Can't trust the internet. But you can trust GM assembly and spec sheets.

If you enlarge the pic, you will see this exact number on the side of the injector....it is a lucas and this is what i came up with. Either way the difference between 17.9 (18.0) and 19lb is minimal.
5720D780 = 17.9lbs 43.5psi 3.0 bar---Chevy v8-5.0l

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

I have the same injectors in my 86 Z-28 and I think they originally came out of the 305 that was replaced in mine too, I am upgrading as soon as possible due to the fact of the resistance being 16.5- 16.8 on all of them when the book calls for 11-14.

Sounds good. Let talk to my bro n law to see if he is going to get rid of his 22 lb injectors. If he is going to keep em, then you'll definetaly get a purchase from me. Thanks.

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

southbay I have a 383 stoker and am planning on throwing in a weiand stealth ram intake,
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WND-7540/?rtype=10
and holley fuel rails,
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-534-186/

what would be a good sized injector for good flow for this system? or you got anything in stock for good price that would be good to make this a legit setup? thanks much appreciated.

Well, first you must decide what your looking for. You can buy any injector that will suit your needs. The issue that you will have is that you would have to reprogram the PROM Chip (burn) so that your ECM knows what kind of injectors are being utilized. Example, off the assembly line, A 86 IROC 305 has 19 LBS injectors while the 87 IROC 350 has 22 LBS injectors. So asking for advice is good, but keep in mind that you'll need to burn your PROM chip at a DYNO Shop if you decide to choose a different flow rate injector.

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

Chevy, if the injectors your brother in law has are factory GM Bosch or Lucas, they would need to be cleaned. it would probably be cheaper just to replace them with the bosch 3s.
and if they are multec injectors, well i wouldn't waste time putting them in.
the multecs are that bad.

Thanks guys for giving me some heads up. You know, my bro n law gave me 86 IROC Z as a wedding gift back in 2002. I already agreed to take his injectors. But to your suggestions, I'm considering on buying some new injectors. Im going to tell my bro n law to hold on to his just in case he needs them as a back up. My 19 LB'ers work good, but since I got a 350, I would love to feel it's true power. Agian thanks guys.

So how much difference will I feel (power gains) if I were to replace my 19 lbs for the 22 lbs Bosch III's?

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

its hard to say just how much of a difference you'll see. it depends how bad of condition your injectors are in. add in you have a 350 running on 305 injectors and im sure you will notice a nice change.
the last set of bosch 3s i put in were for a 91 vette that was towed in from another shop. the multecs it had were so bad, it was causing the car to be hard to start and it was undriveable. that was after the other shop had already replaced 2 injectors.
after i got the bosch 3s in, it fired right up and ran perfectly.
the owner said he couldn't remember it ever running that good.

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

Due to the 4 spray pattern and the improvement in the fuel atomization, you should see an improvement in the overall performance with the bosch lll's....improved acceleration, idle, fuel consumption, etc.

If your going through summitracing they have a complete mpfi stealth ram system with injectors and module for the tpi setup

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

I'm running a 87 version HO 350 crate with my original TPI setup off of my 305 with 19lbs injectors. I still have the the original ECU and the way I understand , the MAF meters the air flow and sends the data to the ECU and the timing cycle changes for the injectors (19lbs to stay open longer for 350 engine) is this true? I have to admit that the idle is a little rough, but I think that it is due to the fact that they have never been serviced in 25 years. I did change the knock sensor and the ESC for a 350 engine and I am thinking of going to the Bosch III's injectors. Do they make these in a 19lb injector?

Yes, they do make the design lll's in 19lb and we carry them. I can set you up with a BBk fuel pressure regulator which is a stock replacement for tpi 85-92 and you can adjust the fuel pressure to what you need up to 60psi. If you need the 22's...which i think you do.. they flow 22lb at 43.5psi and if you need 19lb you can drop the pressure to 34psi . We will be happy to help you with whatever you need!

huh? do you sell the tan 19lb bosch 3? I tried running 22's at 34. They run ok but the bottom range is a little dirty. Unburned HC went up, we still have inspection here. I think they run better at higher pressure like 43 which the system was designed around. The BBK AFPR is ok for fine tuning your fuel system. It's not a good idea to use it to change injector size. The stock fuel system in our cars don't like higher pressure. The head pressure in the pump rises and will cause pump failure prematurely. To pull a pump out of an f body is the biggest PIA you have ever had. JMO

I agree. I had to drop my tank 2 times in 1 month. 1. replaced damaged tank. 2. Replaced bad pump. It really sucked. Especially when trying to bolt the 2 straps back on.

it sounded like you were leaning toward the 19lb injectors. For a 350 you should use the 22lb at 43.5psi. And yes, we sell the tan 19lb bosch design lll injectors.

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

Southbay08, a good friend of mine needs your help. WileECoyoteSr has a 91 Z-28 with the 5.7 350 TPI engine. He believes that he needs new injector for his ride. He's been looking on Ebay and needs to comfirm the Bosch III part #, and proper inj. sizefor his car. I think his size would be 22lb.

Could you please help us out?

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

Hi, yes i just sent you and your friend a pm, he is definitely going to need the 22lb Bosch lll's for a 350 5.7 tpi.
He can also go to our website, but the part # is 0280155700.

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

I think he was looking on Ebay and was getting 2 or 3 different part #'s and sizes for his car. He just needs someone to comfirm size and part #'s, and I must omit, its nice to have part #'s on here for future reference.

Thanks.

Question: Does a 87 GTA w/5.7 TPI(my ride) use the same part # and size injector?

yes they would,,, once again the part number is 0280155700 or 0280155710
22lbs @ 43.5psi. Just remember, if you purchase from ebay without our "new adapter" or 2nd oring on the bottom of the injector,,,you are going to have a fitment issue....they will be too short. Stock injectors from 1985-1992 are approx 1/8 to 1/4in longer than the bosch lll's.

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

Interesting, I will check you guys out for sure...As far as mid to WOT the 350 runs great with 19lb injectors. All of my A.I.R. and Cat converter was trashed by the Mechanic who put this engine in for my son a few years back. I am not sure if I can get a prom for my ECU 1226870 (160 baud)with TPI 22lbs FI with a 5 spd trans. Maybe a Corvette of the same year might work. My ECU's prom is for TPI 19lb FI with a 700R4 trans and TC lock-up converter. any ideas will help.

Need help with crossing PROM to a different ECM or vice-versa, follow this link. It'll tell you what you need to know about 305 to 350 conversion and what needs to be changed when swapping things around between the 2 TPI engines..... http://tpiparts.net/305_tpi_to_350_tpi_conversion

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

Will check it out...In 85 you couldn't get a 5 speed with a 350 in a thrid gen due to the torque it put out. The 5 speed was not rated for that much torque says GM. (What about the Corvette?) anyway, to make my car right, I would need a prom for a TPI 350, 22lb inj, 5 speed manual trans. Thanks!!!

Re: OEM Fuel Injectors?

I ordered a set of the Bosch IIIs from Southbay this past summer and put in my 350 IROC. First time I had ever replaced an injector. It wasnt that bad, good time to go through and clean the whole TPI system and polish it. I used the double oring set up and they are working fine.
