Can you look down and see the stock exh manifold gaskets?

Never had the manifolds off yet, but I'm trying to trace a big air leak that's upsetting the O2. If I look down at the top of the exhaust ports nowhere do a see an exhaust manifold gasket on either side. Just wondering if the stock ones are super-small and impossible to see from above. (I've got an 89 305 TPI)

I'd rather find out ahead of time then pull crusty manifolds off for nothing. I'm also gonna replace the donuts.

Sorry about the dumb question but it's necessary.

haha great answer! I know they will be really hard to see if they don't exist! lol. I'm trying to figure out if they're visible before pulling off a manifold. Common sense would say that i would be able to see it if it were there - unless the OE gasket was some tiny little cheapo thing.

TraviZ meant that there are no gaskets.

You may find that there's a spacer on the pass side (replacing the EFE valve on carbed cars) and a ball/flange set-up on the driver's side--no gaskets.

Interesting, I assumed them both to be the same. Should be interesting. I hope the Pass side isn't too much of a PITA.

EDIT: no gaskets... well I suppose that would be a good reason for it to leak 20 years later.. lol. Thanks! Sounds like the gaskets really could use "replacing".
