Using 88 SBC "carbed engine" for TPI conversion?
Using 88 SBC "carbed engine" for TPI conversion?
I have a couple of low mileage 350 roller engines from 1988 Caprice (police) package cars (been stored)
They were equipped with carbs and 305 heads from the factory. Would like use one for a project to install a SD TPI setup.
My concern is with the cams...was there much cam spec difference between the carbed and TBI 350 in 1988? Are they (carbed engines) good candidates for a TPI swap?
thanks

i thought the carb was discontinued in '87, if your going to convert to tpi then get a tpi cam or aftermarket cam.

In the police caprice..they used the quadrajet for 87 & 88. (Mine is code CWA
vin 6)
Guess I'm trying to determine the difference (if any) among the 1988 Carb,TBI and TPI factory cams.
I have a couple of OEM center bolt head quadrajet intakes manifolds used on the 88 police caprice.
