question about AIR delete

So I read everywhere here that removing the AIR system doesn't require any tuning to the ECM. Question I have is, if the AIR system pumps air into the exhaust upstream of the O2 sensor, requiring the ECM to be factory configured to read slightly lean (due to extra air pumped in) as normal, then why wouldn't removing the system cause the engine to actually run leaner?

Re: question about AIR delete

The car is in open loop when the air is pumped into the manifolds. In closed loop the diverter valve directs the air downstream of the sensor.

Re: question about AIR delete

AIR delete only accomplishes a visual change. It won't affect performance in any way.

Re: question about AIR delete

I removed mine and it never even triggered any codes in the computer. You won't notice any difference in the way your car runs with or without the AIR system functioning. Removing it cleans up the engine bay quite a bit and it makes it way easier to change spark plugs without the tubes in the way.

You will gain 0.25 hp untill the car warms up. Looks cool.

(at least half of this post is not a lie)

Re: question about AIR delete

Half of my system was gone when I got the car. Made sense to get rid of that crap anywho. No performance gain, big visual. Much easier to get around your engine too.
