Need help identifying a TPI manifold
Need help identifying a TPI manifold
I have a TPI manifold that has been sitting in a box since I got it probably 6 years ago and I'm trying to identify it so I can install it on a truck engine for my '75 step side Chevy 4x4, I'm trying to figure out what harness and computer I need to get as well.
Here is what I know:
Late style intake manifold 87+
Fuel injectors are gray
Has an AIR MASS METER
I will be installing this on a 1995 L05 long block I pulled from a wrecked Suburban.
It is apart on the work bench, so any needed information is easy to get!

Re: Need help identifying a TPI manifold
Unless the injectors were swapped, the gray injectors tell me it's an 89 TPI intake.
You can use the following computers...
- 85 TPI
- 86-89 TPI (1227165 ECM)
- 90-92 TPI (1227730 ECM)
- 90-91 TPI (1227727 ECM)
- 96-99 Vortec ECM (requires 4x crank reluctor and Vortec distributor)
- LS1 PCM distributor application (GM# 12200411 with 4x crank reluctor and Vortec distributor)
- LS1 PCM distributor-less, coil per cylinder (with 24x crank reluctor)
- LS3 ECM distributor-less, coil per cylinder (with 58x crank reluctor)
The TPI manfiold has little to do with the ECM used to control the system.

Re: Need help identifying a TPI manifold
I put a 305 TPI out of an 85 Z28 in my 85 K5 Blazer, I use a painless harness for a 91-92 so I wouldnt have the MAF hanging off the front of the engine. It kinda cleans up the engine bay. And also was able to use the intake boot and 3 inch exhaust to make Cold air snorkle.

Re: Need help identifying a TPI manifold
TPI computers are almost the same. But they are interchangable. Difference is the PROM. 350 PROM matches 22 LBS injectors while the 305 PROM matches the 19 LBS. I believe the TBI computers are different due to the fact that there different parts as in fuel and air intake delivery. If your very serious about changing to a TPI system, then follow this link....
