L98 Vacuum Line Question

On top of the intake manifold there is a vacuum line that is split one end goes to the throttle body and the other end is not connected......the line travels towards the back of the intake where it ends (broken)

I need to know where the end that is not hooked up goes and also does the broken end hook to the top or bottom of the solenoid.

Also, the other solenoid line goes to the egr correct?

I have looked at the routing diagram but it is not nearly detailed enough.

Re: L98 Vacuum Line Question

I've got a 1990 5.0L the line comes from the throtle body under the plenum and hooks to the bottom port of the egr control sol. the top port on the sol. goes to egr valve. the broken piece that wraps arround the back of the engine comes all the way arround to the Cruise control vacuum canister, it's a weird way there routed, I've been looking for a vaccum diagram from GM but not found one yet If I do I'll post it under
my last thread.

Re: L98 Vacuum Line Question

Thanks, im sorry if this gets more confusing but the line off the throttle body is "Y'd" off to a second line that is about the same length towards the front passenger side uner the plennum. So are you saying the combined throttle body/"unknown" line goes back to the solonid and the "unknow connection" goes to the canister. There is a Tee about 6 inches from my canister that looks like its missing a connnection.

PS its hard describing these things online huh!

Re: L98 Vacuum Line Question

Well you have a "y" right off the throtle body? does it look more like a small fat cyl? Like I said that's the way my car is set up, but I'ts also a '90 Speed Density as oppose to MAF but the way I've seen that hose on in the Haynes book is the one hose directly oppose the inlet to the cyl runs to the bottom port of the egr sol. the other end runs to the C.C. canister on thel left side by the headlight not the charcoal canister, I can't think of what else is on the passenger side that would need vac. Those your car have C.C.? and where are your accesories connected, ie. vent's A/C Heat?

Re: L98 Vacuum Line Question

I have CC , i know where you mean on the driver side there is a Tee there and one side goes to the canister the other is not hooked up. Now by the throttle body When i say a y i mean under the plennum the throttle body connection and the "unknown" connection that is not hooked up to anything y together and run to the back and is broken/the solenoid connection is broken also so i figure that is the same line just snapped.

My question is the other connection by the throttle body ......what does that hook to, like i said its on the passenger side under the plennum "y'd" off of the throttle body line. It looks like its a pre formed GM original part.

Re: L98 Vacuum Line Question

Vetteoz......i have looked at those drawings but they do not seem to be detailed enough it does not show the y under the plennum. Like i said i really think its an original line because its preformed like it was meant to be there.

Re: L98 Vacuum Line Question

By the way i do have the large line from the canister to the Throttle body. That should be the fuel vapor line. Just wanted to throw that out there to be clear.
