New To TPI and need info
ok i just ended up with this car it is a 87 z28 it looks like an old race car that some1 threw back to stock and got rid of but the price was right and i think it will be a fun car to build... i dont know alot about the car... but i know it has a fresh 700r4 out of a tuned port vette it has been rebuilt and has a pretty stout shift kit. the motor is a 1 piece rear main 350 with early style heads. the car runs and drives good i just got all the interior put back in and i am getting everythign ready to swap in another motor.... i dont know alot about tuned port so that is why i am posting here in hopes of getting some useable info... as of right now the car runs very very rich... i think this is due to the O2 sensor not being hooked up...(but tah tis about to be fixed) and the wiring in this car is a nightmare... and i want to adress this and get this engine runing and driving well b4 i swap in the other motor... now for whats goin in i have a 550 hp sbc that i was plannin on running off the factory tune port intake... and from what i have read the factory intake will not support this... i jsut need to know the low buck mods needed to be done to make this engine run well with the tuned port intake. so please guide me in the right direction... and if u need any more info from me please ask. oh and im pretty sure the AIR system and the EGR is gone...

Welcome to TGO.
Your post is a little hard to follow... What motor are you trying to get running well? The one that's currently in the car or your 550 hp motor (that the tune port -system- wont support)?

Re: New To TPI and need info
thank you and i apologize for the confusion. i want to get the stock motor currently in the car runing well so i dont run into issues when i swap the motor in... and i assumed that the stock tpi system would not support the built motor. can the factory tpi intake be modified to support that much hp?
Re: New To TPI and need info

Re: New To TPI and need info
so i have found out.... but i need to know what i must do to support that much power.... every intake setup i find is 750 or more with no throttle body.... plus i stil have to pay for tuning... will it benifit me to do this? or should i just rip out the tune port and run a carb that seems to be the cheapest.... but if yall think there are perfromance gains to be had by sticking with the tune port setup then i will be more than happy to listen but like i have said i dont know to much about tune port systems so i am all ears if some one is willing to share some info and knowlage with me and help me get this car burnin some tires.

Your stock parts will likely not support 550hp. I think most would suggest going to the stealth ram, fast, maybe even a highly modded LTx intake.
But as you mentioned, tossing on a carb would be much cheaper, and from the sounds of your knowledge of FI systems, likely easier for you.

i know the basics im just not real familiar with tune port setups and what they will support.... but from the looks spendin an extra 1500 or more to run my tune port dosent seem worth it.
