375 hp 350
375 hp 350
I have an 86 iroc with a 305 tpi in it, theres a local performance engine shop i recently talked with about building a 350 long block for me... I have heard so much about how restricive the stock intakes are but he claims that according to his flow program the machinist is confident he can get 375 hp at the flywheel outve a 350 with the stock intake, custom cam, double roller timing chain, head work, new injectors, new prom, 9.5:1-10:1 compression and 91 octane gas... the 350 will have new crank, bearings, ect and he quoted me $2950 for the engine with mine as a core. This price is with me taking out and installing engine and swapping intake timing cover, dist, ect, and does not include injectors or tuning... Im just curious i dont want to really get any wilder than 350-400 hp but is that really a plausible hp# to expect for a fresh 350 with cam, head work, injectors, and tuning??? Does that sound fair priced, and what should i expect to pay for the tuning and anything to watch out for as far as injector brands?? Sorry i am new to tpi and chevys in general...thanks for the help
Re: 375 hp 350
Also he said his computer showed two different style tpi intakes and the flow was different between them and the distinguishing trait was the center intake bolts going into the head being inline or offset... mine look to be inline anyone know anything about that, I also have a small dent in 1 runner on the back drivers side... any chance in getting that out or is it shot????

That seems a little to pricey, from what you have stated you will save a lot more time, and money just switching to the stealth ram and build your motor up from there. Its real hard to get a tpi to HP ranges from where you want. It can be done, but its going to be more expensive than you think, and a lot of the right combo of parts to make the tpi flow the absolute best. If you must stick with the tpi, to just make the computer work correctly, must insist on buying the first fuel injection tpi system http://www.firstfuelinjection.com/products.htm
The system is actually built for a 350, not the 305. It flows a lot better, has higher rpm limitation and you bring to you goal with work. works on stock ECM, your if your car is mass air flow, you would have to switch to map for the tpi system.
