Considering switching to TPI couple Q's

I have a 305 TBI, I'm considering a switch to TPI.. here's my questions..

I have a 305 TPI ECM, I got it from a 305 TPI 5 speed car, could I use this with my automatic?

I have Vortec 059 305 heads, with a Vortec intake, would it be a good improvement from stock, with headers and all?

How much of a pain is it to do the wiring from TBI to TPI?

I've done some research, got a plenum on the way, just have to go pick it up (From a 1991 Formula) I have a Vortec TPI intake on the shelf at a supplier, My biggest question, that would save me alot of time IS can I use a TPI ECM from a 1991 Formula 5 speed in my automatic car?

Re: Considering switching to TPI couple Q's

The ECM itself is the same, its the PROM that is different. It may run ok anyway, the main differences I know of are spark and idle speed settings (auto can be in gear vs neutral with a stick). Or you could swap the PROM or burn the auto code if you have that ability.

It may be worth your time to port the base now, especially in the area near the head.

I was gonna buy the Vortec TPI intake, I think it comes ready to bolt on.

Sure it will bolt on, but that area is not exactly friendly to airflow or HP. May as well port it before you install it.

The ECM out of the TPI Formula is a 7730, my cousin told me they're pretty good to use..
