TPI 305 cuts off when stopped HELP
Hi, i have a question i cant find an answer to, please help.
im looking to buy a 92 camaro RS 25th anniversary ed., all good, needs some cosmetic repairs and such, but one thing has me worried. the engine cuts off. the car is, according to carfax, originally a TBI 305 V8, buut, the actual car has a TPI manifold, i suppose it has injection. so, the problem is the guy selling it say it runs smooth while moving, but i you stop, the engine usually will cut off. also while looking, i revved the engine at the intake manifold lightly, and the rpm's dropped, it sounded like it wanted to cut off, and i tried again and it died. uh oh.
but earlier, the owner and i both revved the car smoothly. what could be the cause of this?? this is make or break for the sale. also, while starting the car, it must be kept at slightly higher than idle for around a minute or it will cut off. the owner says its probably a fuel line hole/leak or a leak in the fule injector seal. any ideas on the costs to repair/difficulty? what else could be wrong and the price to fix? anyone else have this problem? thanks for any help guys, i looking to own my first third gen camaro!!
