cooling fanstaying on

When I start my car my primary cooling fan comes on after about a minute when the engine is running. I swapped relays and it still comes on and does'nt shutt off until engine is off. 88 formula 305 tpi with AC needs to be recharged. Does anyone have any ideas what the cause is. Thanks

Re: cooling fanstaying on

The primary fan is controlled by the ecm which gets its temp information from the coolant temp sensor, your sensor could be bad, or maybe there is a short in the wiring check the green and brown wires on the relay for shorts or bare spots.
