What the !#$% is this?
Pulled my TB off today and found a caked on black residue. Has anyone ever expeirienced this before? If so what is this.

poor maintenance IMO...

some of it is from the EGR valve.
most of it is from the PCV system.
its completely normal.
i've seen them sludged up much worse than yours'.
some good carb cleaner will clean it right up.

I just used Seafoam today to remove carbon build-up. It restored some lost power. Smoothed out the idle too. Great for my high mileage engine! (212,000 mi)

NO DON'T DO THAT.... YOU need to use TB cleaner... Carb cleaner from my understanding has a different chemical structure compared to that of a throttle body cleaner...
