Need close up pics of tpi systems

I have a 91 Z/28 (just purchased) with the 350 TPI and want some close up pics of the intake if anyone has some. I just want a visual of where the little air hoses and wires plug into.
Also am wondering if an 89 TPI off a Corvette is the same as a 91 Z/28 TPI because I am told the engine and TPI is off an 89 Corvette as its not hooked up...just sitting in the engine bay so I need to get everything hooked up.
I know nothing about the TPI engines so this is all new to me

if you are using a corvette engine you need the harness too otherwise it wont work with the 91 ecm

now is it the hole thing from a corvette or just the block???

Re: Need close up pics of tpi systems

I believe the engine block and the TPI is from the 89 Corvette. So all the plugs and hoses are different from the Corvette to the Camaro?? I believe the horsepower ratings are the same from what I've read online.

the thing is the 91-92 camaro run with a maf sensor and older models had a map sensor, also your tpi might have 9 injectors intead of 8 that came with the 91 harness... we need pics of your setup to see what system you have and go from there also, do u know if whoever sold you the car gave you the corvette ecm and harness??

Re: Need close up pics of tpi systems

Thanks for the info. I will get some closeups of the thing tomorrow. Uhh no on the harness. The Camaro harness and is still on the car . He just showed me that the harness wasn't cut at all and all the plug ins are all still there. As for the ecm, it should still be there as well. I just need to know where it is.

from what I can remember of mine, everything looks the same as yours does. The fuel lines come out on the driver side.

Re: Need close up pics of tpi systems

Sounds like somebody started the swap, realized it was over their head having to change out the ECMs & the whole harness, so they gave up & pawned it off on you as an "easy thing to finish".

While it isn't impossible, you will have to change ECMs & the harness out, to finish it.

Good luck!

Re: Need close up pics of tpi systems

thats why i was askin you about the original setup of that car and to find out if it indeed the engine you got with it was from a corvette you need to know for sure what you are dealing with before you start putting it back together to see what direction your doing to take.

It looks like there are 9 injectors but I will look again tomorrow when I am more awake. Yes it was a tpi originally.

there was no 9th injector in 1989

the newer tpi harness will run the older motor, the cold start injector wont be needed.

89 vette and camaro both got the l98

if its a vette motor it will have aluminum heads,if not then its a fbody l98 or lb9 and regardless, the 91 harness will work on any of the tpi motors.

its the same small block that has been around since the invention of the wheel.

im sure he knows what a tpi looks like,so all he needs to do is get the block numbers off the motor behind the drivers side head to determine the displacement.

Re: Need close up pics of tpi systems

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I have everything pretty much figured out as mine is an 85-88. As far as the intake/tpi unit, the '85-88 intakes have sensors for coolant temp and a cold start sensor for the ninth injector. The '89-92 intakes only have a coolant temp sensor for cold start and coolant temp for the computer. But it's ok, with the right MAP sensor and plugs, it'll work fine with my harness and ECM.

FYI....

In 87, they went to center bolt valve covers. So it would be.....85-86, but I thought TPI started in 84 on Corvettes.

Ok so its at least and 87...if not an 88 because it has the center bolt valve covers...and its a 5.7 L as I just went out to look behind the left head and confirmed it

It also has the serpentine set up but I'm not sure if it came off my '91 or the Vette motor. If it came off the Vette motor, the the engine is an '88. But I dont care about what year it is...just so I can get my tpi mated to my '91 harness. And I pretty much have that figured out. I just now want some closeups of the throttle linkage set up, and where the wiring harness runs over or under stuff and to the emissions junk. I just want things to look factory under my hood. Preferibly from a 91 or 92 would be best. Thanks again for all your help guys
