TPI Cold Air Intake
I was originally just going to run my TPI swap with a K&N Filter directly off the throttle body, but I thought that would hinder performance and decided to build a Cold Air Intake. I havent fired the motor yet, but I doubt I could make less power with this set up!
I cut a hole beside the radiator, fed the pipe thru and the air filter is right where the fog lights would mount, catching lots of ambient air from the front of the vehicle instead of hot underhood air.

The factory setup was better, with only a few minor changes to it. It has less underhood heat soak & has the potential for "ram air".

yeah, that looks way harder to build than this setup. I pretty much have a ram air going at the front already, only with one large filter. This shouldnt have much heat soak as its 3 small metal pieces and 2 large silicone joiners being fed by a filter outside of the engine bay.

I think you misunderstand the build. It is 95% factory stuff. Al that is needed is to connect the underside of the factory filters, to the space where the fog lights mount. And that is also 100% forward of the radiator, outside the engine compartment in cool air, getting no engine bay heat.

Re: TPI Cold Air Intake
It looks like a decent setup, but its not clean looking. If you cut that design down the center, thats exactly what my setup looks like, except i'm using soft bends, and large diameter piping.
My car wasnt originally a TPI car, so i didnt have the factory air ducting to work with. I'm also using an inverted air filter, facing directly forward, so it acts like a ram air, scooping air with forward momentum.
Inverted Filter well infront of the radiator:
And another showing off my Beautiful M-u-l-l-e-t

The modified & added stuff is 100% invisible & would never be seen.

Re: TPI Cold Air Intake
I dont think the factory setup is as clean looking. Its akward looking and seems restrictive compared to aftermarket large tube intakes.
