l98 zz4 cam advice
hi everyone, i have a 89 camaro 350 tpi and i just want to put in it a zz4 cam, i just look it for one in good price, but here in my local junk yard, i found a torque converter from an s10, and i read that if i put it in my car will work really whell, since i have the stock gears (2.77) will this work well?? or is not good?? the zz4 cam, with tc around 2200 rpm and the stock gears??? thanks for the help.....

Re: l98 zz4 cam advice
I was running a zz4 cam with a 2400 stall converter with 2.77 gears for about a month. Then I swapped in a 3.27 rear end. The car ran fine with 2.77 gears but I didn't drive it long enough to really say whether or not it was ideal. If you can afford and install cams and converters, a used 9 bolt with a better gear should be a walk in the park. I'd do THAT before the cam!

In my mostly stocker I went from the 2:77 rear to a 3:23, pretty amazing increase in overall performance. That would be the first thing I'd change.
Re: l98 zz4 cam advice
this question is because i dont have a lot of money since i'm a student so, i hear that zz4 cam is a nice upgrade and the tc from the junk yard is really cheap.... but if i need to change the gears... for the moment i think is not a good idea to go with a bigger stall....
