82 Firebird with TPI350 starts and dies when hot
Hi all,
My 1982 Firebird has developed a heat problem. The TPI/350 motor has been running great for 12 years with no major problems. But today after driving the car from Wilson to Cary NC, the engine died after a restart. I had stop at the MCD on the corner of High House and Cary Parkway, went into the store and got a drink. Upon returning to the Bird it crank right up and then died. I checked the oil, unplug and bypassed the Ignition box. The car crank, but would not start. I waited for about 20 minutes and then tried starting the car again and it ran. I stop the engine and reconnected the Ignition Box and restarted the car with not problems.
I drove the car back to Wilson, turn it off and went into my house. I came out about 20 min. later and started the car. Again it immediately died. I let the car cool down for about 20 minutes more and then it restarted and ran fine.
So whats is going on hear. I thinking the ignition module within the distributor is giving up when its hot or maybe it another problem, please help.
Thanks for your responses.

ohm test the fuel injectors when it is hot, sometimes they go out of spec when they're hot.

Hi again,
Please note: after I got the car to start today, it ran smooth. Accel. without any problems. Basicly no driveablity problems.
