Real IROC or a copy?

I used to own a 1989 IROC and saw an 89 IROC for sale and was questioning whether it was a copy or the real deal. It was a TBI instead of TPI like mine which I know does exist so thats not what I was concerned about. There were no t-tops which I'm unsure whether ALL IROCs in that year came with. But, the very first thing that caught my eye was the front, looked like a RS bumper, no foglights and has that ugly plastic grill across the front. They had all the IROC stickers and labels, the ones on the doors and bumper but of course that could be stuck on there by anyone. Are these signs I noticed obvious of a fake IROC or is there something else I need to be looking for? Thanks for any help!

ok, but this car is online, and without the VIN is there any other way to tell? can IROCs come with a bumper like the RS?

The base engine in the 89 Iroc was the LO3 tbi 305, with optional upgrades to the LB9 tpi 305, and of course the L98 tpi 350.

I'd say its just an 89 RS with the 305 with all the stickers applied, I see no reason why someone would put an RS front bumper on an iroc unless it had a crash at some point.

T-tops were always optional, never standard equipment on any Camaro.

Re: Real IROC or a copy?

As said, Iroc's DID come with TBI, as well as TPI, even Carbed.

Do you have any pictures of it you could post? Email him and ask for a cellphone pic of the RPO codes? thats a start. Only real way is to check vin
