No, 4th gens have a venturi built in to pre-fill the "bucket" so the pump is constantly submerged
If you want the added pressure for a performance app or later LSx swap, use a walbro 255 or 96-99 Vortec truck pump
Both drop right in and supply ample pressure for nearly any app
