just got a 1990 iroc 350 black/black with 93k miles for what i consider a steal at $2995.Paint is bad (when i say bad i mean krylar spray can would be inprovement but no rust at all so that is good),interior is PERFECT like new.Do have a few points im concerned about.
1. air bag sensor light is on all the time.
2. all ive ever had is carb'd cars 66stang,74vette,ect... never had FI to hobby with(of course i have new cars that are under warranty and no problem.)
3. when starting up engine it take 5 to 10 seonds of cranking and has rough shaky idle.
4. still seems to have power when i get on it but times i wonder if it will crank forever or start.
5. No service engine soon light is on so no error i assume.
6. auto zone told me car will run with bad computer so that is probably the issue and to replace it $59.99 does this sound like issue?
7. i cannot find a air cleaner lid replacement even on ebay or year one or anywhere. the one that is on it is cracked in many places and has what looks like old duct tape over the holes(i just watched myth busters and i know you can make a boat out of duct tape) and the end of it doesnt seem to fit all the way in the tube like it is out of round.

sorry if im not describing much but im even more limited on FI stuff. I got an 86 305 tpi new on my 16birthday and sold it 2 years to help pay for baby and have always wanted another.

3. 87 IROC has a 9th injector that primes the engine. If yours has one, make sure it's working. Turn the key to "On". You should hear the fuel pump prime the engine. You'll hear a click when it goes off. This doesn't necessarily mean the injector is working, but will tell you if the engine is priming.

6. It's possible the computer is bad, however, That's kinda cheap for a replacement.

Yeah just like he said if you turn to the on you will hear a humming sound which is the car priming so when you go to start let it prime until it stops and then try starting. Also your check engine light might not come on because you just dont have one. For instance my car wasnt running to great and I was wondering why the light wouldnt come on. It also wouldnt come on just putting the car in the on position. So I took off the gauge cover to find zero lightbulb in the engine light spot. A few weeks later I come to find it in the center console.
