im buying a used eaton posi and have a choice of 3.42 and 3.73 gears .. im building a motor over the winter and its going to be a built 305 or a built 350.. aftermarket ported aluminum heads , cam and edelbrock ported base and long tube runners .. its going to be a street car ... what would be a ideal gear for my combo ??? i did a search and its about a fifty fifty split ...

 

What do you mean by street car? A daily driver? Or a bit more?

 

take it out on nice days kinda driver ... i do drive on the freeway alot ..

 

For a lot of freeway driving I would go for the 3.42 as it will move your RPM range a bit lower than the 3.73.

 

What tranny you plan to use?
