The results are in.....

We flowed some intakes today....

First we flowed the TPIS Mini Ram
Just one port, but this thing is a sewer pipe.

It flowed "414 CFM" ....enough to support a 500 Cu.In. engine.

Then we flowed the FIRST Intake base
#4 intake port
It came in at "314 CFM" out of the box
We added the runner and it still flowed "297" CFM.

All this with no work done to them.

I forgot that....
The mini ram was a 1205 gasket.
The First was a 1204 gasket.

Thats interesting numbers on the miniram... I seen results from one that was ported/cut/epoxy to match AFR 235 heads by Tony Mamo to flow only 400cfm. That was on corvette forum. Was this worked over? It sounds very high for a 1205 port

It was ported in about one inch for the 1205.

By the way, the FIRST base was done on a good port this time, last time we checked a bad port. (301 CFM)

Re: The results are in.....

That MiniRam had been on a mill. That thing was really opened up. This was over at Joe Shermans and he said that thing flowed more than anything he has ever had on his flow bench.

The results on the First with the runners have given me some pause. I thought the long runners would have knocked down the CFM more. I have been thinking about this all afternoon. I am going to build a set of runners that picks up the 2nd harmonic wave and see what happens. The CFM will be there and will be enough to fully support my AFR Comp heads. The TPI Research & Development continues.

I have to try and keep up with those pesky LSX guys in the neighborhood. Hahahaha.

The Mini Ram was not out of the box. The First intake was though. That Mini Ram had been on a mill and could have been larger than a 1206 gasket as far as I know. As Don said it looked as big as a sewer pipe.

Where are you guys picking up the First base at? How much is that base going for? It sounds like the best TPI option.

Hey, Allen

When you get tired of your current engine, I've got first dibs, okay?

Re: The results are in.....

The current engine is staying put. Maybe some fine tuning going on to extract a few more horsepower here and there. The intake and exhaust systems are fair game. Hahahaha.

That should be interesting. You going to try this on the current motor or the 369" motor?

Re: The results are in.....

Hi Orr

The Mini Ram is another persons project. I am seriously considering the long tube runners for the 369 inch motor and try to pick up the 2nd harmonic wave which I gather is much stronger than the 3rd. We are going on the dyno next Saturday so I can see what the current system is doing. That will give me something to compare with. I have had some interesting feedback on the other forum with private emails.

When we weld up the roof and port the 3860 base (Edelbrock) we are seeing numbers around 310-330 CFM.

I am not totally familiar with what you guys are doing. When you say weld up the roof, the roof of what? The plenum? Also, what runners are you guys using to get those numbers?

Thanks

You can but, that is a lot of work with a dremel.

Most of it was done with a domore high speed tool.

It has been done tho
