Mass Air Flow question need help

Mass Air Flow question need help

i have a 87 iroc camaro 350 and i finally get her running after a year and i timed it the other day which i think i did it wrong but it seems to run ok the only question is last night i drove it and it wouldnt run unless the mass air flow was disconnected like i unplugged it and it ran ok i dont know what that means. any help would be appreciated

If you haven't already done it, do a search on this site for mass air flow. Tons of posts and a lot of good troubleshooting tips. Kinda saves everybody rehashing the same topic. However, it sounds like your MAF is bad.

In case of a maf circuit failure the ecm uses a preset value to run the motor thats why it will run with the maf unplugged, but that doesn't always mean the maf is bad I would
replace the relays on the firewall near the brake booster first, there are three... maf power, maf burn off, and fuel pump relay. and go from there.
