Cranks up then dies
I have been doing quite a bit of work on my Formula 350. Problem was a dead #3 cylinder so I took everything apart to swap out some valves. During the process I realized my egr vacuum lines were shot along with the solenoid. I picked up a 92 Caddy solenoid and swapped out all of the vac lines and ordered the metripack connector so I can hook up to the new solenoid. Checked compression on #3 and it was around 140(had been 20) so I hooked everything else back up except the solenoid.
I cranked it up today and it cranks but it dies as soon as I let off the gas. Is this because the solenoid isn't hooked up yet or do I have another problem or something I could have overlooked when I put it back together? Fuel pressure checked out at 40-43 and held everytime I checked it so that isn't a problem.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Cranks up then dies
The connector came in 5 minutes after my post so it is now hooked up. Still died when I cranked it up. Any ideas what to look for?

unplug the maf sensor , see if it starts. also check the condition of all the vac lines esp the pcv valve

Re: Cranks up then dies
I'll check out the Maf. I have a brand new one I had picked up cheap when rockauto had some on closeout so I may just switch them out. I have replaced almost all the vacuum hoses and checked them all twice.
I'm thinking the way I did the rockers might have not been right. I always seem to have problems when I just do the 1tdc then 6tdc method. Always better to take my time and turn the crank forceach cylinder.
Thanks

OK< I redid the valves so they are as close to perfect as you can get. I unplugged the maf and it ran for about 5 seconds then it died again. I cranked it again and tried pumping the gas and it had a bad backfire in the intake. What should I look at next?

No ideas? I have looked over every vacuum line three times and they are all good. Everything looks to be good but I can't get it to run. Stinks like hell when I do pump the gas and keep it running.
