complete L98/TPI drivetrain ???

Not sure if this is the right place but I was curious what a complete L98/TPI drivetrain goes for? Motor, harness, ecm, tranny complete? Once again sorry if this is the wrong section.

Re: complete L98/TPI drivetrain ???

I bought a spare 700r transmission from a guy that pulled it along with engine and harness from an 89 Iroc. He wanted $1,200 for everything but I manage to make him part with only 700r for $300. I think it's tougher to find all of those items together from one parts car. 87 and up 700r's are the better ones. Here is a good link that shows TPI intake differences over the years. You might have to buy parts from a few different places but get intake and harness together if you can. Good luck!

ya know thats what i thought the price range should be too, but cant you get and lsx out of a truck for those same prices? I mean how can the TPI command the same price range as the lsx & ltx for that matter?

Probably because junk yards don't care too much what they pull. Just that they pulled a v-8 engine with harness. Yes you can get lsx engine for not much more. L98's aren't as plentiful anymore since they haven't been made since early 90's. Lsx conversion is not a bad option. Some more parts needed to make conversion but if you can get 4th gen gas tank and fuel pump, that will help. Are you specifically looking for a L98 drivetrain for any particular reason?

Better off to buy a complete camaro TPI. I've seen the rough cars running for 1000-1500 range. Then you have it all.
Junk yards around north GA will sell LSX truck complete setups for about the same money. More power, OBDII, eaiser to get parts now days.
