1986 IROC Question

http://s489.photobucket.com/albums/r...y08/86%20IROC/

I am looking for some feedback on a purchase I just made. I just bought the car in the links photos for $7,000. I am just curious if you guys think it is an ok price. I don't think it's a screaming deal, but I think it's fair. I wanted a clean, low mileage 86 (my first camaro was an 86) that I would not have to put any work into. I plan on keeping this thing forever and I didn't want to worry about paint/rust.

It has 55k on it and it is loaded with every option besides leather that was available in 1986. It has a custom stereo and speakers along with a custom box in the trunk. Even had the original leather t-top bag. Outside of the stereo and the distributor cap/coil everything is original. I also wanted it to be reasonably close to me. It wouldn't make sense to drive across the country to save a grand, for me anyway..... Let me know! Thanks.....

Re: 1986 IROC Question

I personally would not have spent that much money on an 86 but if the car runs as good as it looks you'll probably get a lot of years out of it.

Re: 1986 IROC Question

I wouldn't have paid that much, but I have to admit, it is THE NICEST 86 I have ever seen. Its nicer than my friend's 86 IROC was back in 1992! I remember!

If this is your "forever" car, then you didn't get scammed at all. You are super happy with it and you like it loads more than the 7 grand cash.

Seems like you got a good deal.

It looks great! If you feel good about the purchase, that's what matters.

Re: 1986 IROC Question

Very nice, Any of you that think 7k is too much for that car have not seen what is out there lately. What I see is that car basically needs nothing. And to get a car in that condition for that price and 25 years old to top it off is an amazing deal. It costs double that to restore one.

Re: 1986 IROC Question

It needs nothing at all. Maybe a little tuning, it seems a bit sluggish but it will have to wait till the snow and slat is off the roads this spring. It is killing me seeing this sit in my garage knowing I can not drive it for at least another 3 months if I am lucky! By the way, thanks for the help, this seems to be a great site for gathering information on these cars!
