350 Dyno numbers are in!

I was hoping for 300. I am satisfied with 290.1 RWHP. It had a great power curve. It made 358.5 FTLBS. Average horse power was 231 and average torque was 324.9. My airfuel ratio was 12.7. I will post the graphs when I can get the scanner working.

Re: 350 Dyno numbers are in!

I bought a chip from TBI chips to get it started. I was surprised how smooth the pull was. It has a total of 36 degrees with my base set at 8 degrees. I have my air fuel set at 50psi with the line off. That gave me a 12.7 air fuel and it stayed pretty much right there all the way. The base manifold and the headers are my biggest hold backs. I can't complain. It peaked horse power just below 5000 but held the peak for several hundred rpms.

Re: 350 Dyno numbers are in!

do you still think there is much to be had with tunning? Did you port your manifold, i thought you siamesed it?

Re: 350 Dyno numbers are in!

Actually I don't think i would get much if anything from from tuning. I would have probably been a little higher if I had shaved the heads. When I figured my compression I was right at 9 to 1. I believe with stickies the car might skate into the high 12's though. Thats good enough since it was really built to be my daily driver. The manifold and runners are ported and the runners are siamesed all the way through. I could get more with a better base or maybe letting a professional do more opening on my runners but, it's got decent manners and pulls very hard.

The base is port matched to the 1205 gasket. It's also Siamesed about 2.5 inches at the inlet.

Re: 350 Dyno numbers are in!

Thanks Guys The heads are 200cc Dart Iron Eagles with 72cc chambers unshaved. I bought them used off EBay. They came with a set of Howards 1.6 rollers and the all the comp cams Hardware and springs and a fresh valve job. I wish I had had them flowed. The port job was done buy a professional in Memphis several years ago.

Re: 350 Dyno numbers are in!

hmm if they only had smaller chambers, it probably would pick up alittle bit of power but overall not to bad.

Thanks Orr! It drives so well that I am happy with the combination. I have to say you were one of the one's who inspired me to go with the Hot Cam. For the price its the best way to go. I also want to say that the driveablity is fine. It's go a nice idle, seems to be getting decent mileage and has nice manners as well.

Re: 350 Dyno numbers are in!

With the right converter and slicks, it will go high 12's all day long. Thats a good 40whp more than bolt on L98's and those motors have gone high 12's low 13's in good air conditions.

Only thing youcould try now is mess with the tune. Try leaner air fuel, try richer air fuel. Try more than 36 deg timing, try less than 36 deg timing. Try bringing timing curve advance in by 2800 rpm or so, try different timing curve ramp rates...etc. Could find 10 hp in there, maybe more may not find anything at all. Worth a shot when your at the track or if you get back to the dyno.

If it wasnt a load bearing mustang type dyno, you may find that it shows leaner air fuel ratio on the street/track than it did on the dyno, so maybe the car will run faster with abit more fuel than what the dyno says... all good things to try.

OK, I figured out how to get my new computor to recognize my scanner.

Here is a copy of my best dyno on Saturday.
