Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
Few small updates.....
17" Race star wheels installed and ready........
26"x11.5 ET streets in the rear and 225/50r17 in the front.

Added a meth kit(all hidden except for the tank and line going into the elbow, of course)
Working on tuning still. Leaned it out a little as the new fuel filter made it rich everywhere under boost. In the low/mid 11's under boost with the meth. I think we are closing on the tune pretty good at this point. Few small issues, but ironing them out one at a time...

No pictures, BUT Dentfix has a Harwood cowl hood he is setting up for me. I can't wait to get rid of this hood and go to a regular 2 1/2" cowl.

Man, it looks wicked with those wheels!
I think I like those better then the mesh style.

Watch out telling people you have a meth kit. Some tweakers might try and break in and steal it!

Out of interest what is the tread depth of those ET Streets when new?

I'm not sure. I can measure them tonight for you....
I don't think I'd really call it "tread" though, LOL

Sorry, forgot to measure the tread, but found the should be 6/32.
Under my hood is really simple. Well, mostly. Check out the overall pictures. I can get to anything under there rather quickly.
Sorry for it being dirty in the pictures

I just bought this magazine last week! Could've saved myself the money if I knew you had a thread
I'm glad I've seen this though. It's given me complete inspiration for what I want to do to my car!

First pass
7.2@102 1.87 60'
bogged, forgot to shift to 4th(comes so quick) and meth was INOP.
Should be an easy 6 second car at 105. Going back to the dyno after I fix the broken DS from the next pass. I got the meth ironed out as well, so a full tune on that should get me some more gains!

Thanks yall...
I let off as it was starting to spin.... You can slightly hear it n the video.
I did log it, but its useless as the meth wasn't working. Going to get that tuned in on it this week...
Want 6.60s @105 plus!

I know...... A small part of me wants to stay TPI, but shifting at 6000 is horrible. The motor is pulling SO hard then it just levels out!

Listen to the video.... In third gear you can hear where I "forgot" to shift and it started breaking up(or stopped pulling)

Same passes from my gopro.

First pass was the best.... I need a better burnout!
7.2 @102
Second spun through 1 and 2, but stayed in it...

Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
Well. No real updates except for the fact I have twisted two aluminum driveshafts, so I finally got a steel Fleetpride one from Paul. Put it in my car and it turns out it is out of balance pretty badly and had to send it BACK to Fleetpride for another $120 worth of work.
The meth is tuned in and on point, so that is all good. Still no power after 6000, but it is a TPI intake.
Plans are to run at Dragging Rights in November. Hoping for some 10s at DR and then going to swap to a single plane intake.......so, if anyone has any single plane SBC parts for sale, let me know. I'm going to start gathering them now!

New best. Still tpi. Weighs 3500 without me!
1.55 60'
6.84 1/8
103.4 mph
Pretty pleased! !!
Sorry gopro was dead. I hope to run deep in the 10s soon once i hit a 1/4 mile track.
Then its dyno time to see what exactly the car is making and start my single plane swap

Hits 20psi at 6000 RPM.
After that it goes haywire. I am thinking it's valve springs. I am going to try and get some better valve springs on and shoot for even lower times!

Yes...due to being supercharged and so much boost it pops between shifts since the throttle closes totally for a split second.....

exactly , Trade some parts here n there for what ya want. Buy some here and there. Spend a few years building it right the 1 , 2 , 3 rd time.
Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
Wow. I must say you have build one hell of a machine. You took something that was ok, maybe even good to start with and made a monster! Beautiful ride. So when are you hitting the Dyno again to get some numbers?

I too second your philosophy (although I learned the hard way). I used to try to take the cheap way out. But it ended up costing more and taking longer.
Buy once, Cry once.
Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
Congratulations! Awesome Iroc. Fastest tpi Camaro I've seen.
Do you have any pictures of your headers? I'm curious to see how you got long tubes to fit with t56 external slave.
