Re: Prom?
Why can't you use a stock SD prom to start with until you see if you need a a modified tune?

Re: Prom?
Im having trouble identifing the prom that I have. I also suspect that it may be damaged.
It has a couple different #s on it.
One on the side - 68767 31101-1
One on the top AT29C256
12PC
9523
And another on a strange looking "jumper type" of chip to the right
1R1136
I cannot find anything of use on any of these #s.
So, Im thinking about just getting a known good stock one, even then- Im not sure which # I would need.
An aftermarket or burnt one for the stock SD setup would be fine, the car has vats and vss, auto trans and 3.07 rear and I wouldnt mind stepping up a bit from the stock performance if someone has a used one.
Even making the fans come on a bit early is ok.
I will check your links. Thanx again Vetteoz.

Re: Prom?
Thanks vetteoz, but I did look at that, and have absolutley no clue on which # out of all those 350 automatic, 3.07 gear is the right # prom chip I need.
I guess what I mean is it it the Prom bcc #, the prom code #, or the scan id #?
Which is the # that identifys the mem-cal when I go looking for 1 ???
Which # is displayed on the chip itself in case I have to go through a pile at a wreaking yard, or worse yet - ebay?
Thats where Im lost. I know what I need, just need to know how to identify it.
Thanks for your patience.

Re: Prom?
Everytime the factory made any adjustment to the tune they gave the prom a new ID to identify it from previous versions
The code you are looking for is the the 4 letter BBC code
On any factory prom you are looking at the BBC code should match the prom code from the list I linked
