TPI wiring problems

I have learned a ton from you guys here on Third Gen fourms!! I have tried to get my L98 5.7L engine running for over three years!! It has been a spare time project, sticking this L98 into my '87 Landcrusier. Towards the end of my install I spoke to smog Referee here in Northern CA and found: "The engine must be out of that year vehicle or newer"... '85 engine into '87 Landcrusier is an automatic fail! So, will the help of you guys and the web I figured out all the different p/n's going from all the '85 components to '87 stuff: ECM#1226870 to ECM# 1227165, MAF sensor, EST module, knock sensor, ditching the burn off control module(still have the '85 burn off module and MAF sensor for sale if anyone needs them). I started with an old harness from an '85 Corvette, now 26 yrs old, and was using the connectors which all fit the '87 components, but had to repin and run many new wires to the new ecm..165 with the correct '87 wiring diagram. I still could not get this engine to run, pulling out my hair and asking questions on these fourms...Painless wiring harness was out of my price range, but I was able to find through ebay a complete new harness by Fuel Injection Connection who makes completely new harnesses for my ecm# 1227165 for $290!!! wow, that's nearly $1000 less than painless!!!
