TPI cleaning question?
TPI cleaning question?
So I got this TPI, seems to be off a 92 350. I want to run it on my 57 pickup with a 327. I'll use a megasquirt computer.
Real question is how do I clean this this thing up? It's been sitting opn a shelf under a roof but not really enclosed for like 12 years. It's all apart, I hosed it with water and air but it needs more. Is it the same type of aluminum as an Edelbrock manifold? Mag wheel cleaner? Easy-Off? It looks like it has some sort of finish on it, did GM clear coat them?
What to do?

Have it media blasted if you can. You could also try mag and aluminum polish. The cast finish eats the cloth you use but it made a little difference on mine befor I polished it. It was pretty clean to start with tho. GM didn't clear coat it.

Unfinished aluminum wheel cleaner. Use it in a well ventilated area. Rough stuff. But, spray it on, hose it off and it works well. Soda blasting is good on aluminum, too. Gentle, cleans well and even leaves an "anodizing" residue.

Re: TPI cleaning question?
If you can find it, use "spray nine" you can buy it in various sizes and its just about the most amazing parts cleaner i have come across, i dipped some carbon crusted old pistons in it and left them for a day, pulled them out and hosed them off with hot water and a brush and you would have thought they were brand new. and it did not damage the aluminum in the least. Ive tried all sorts of solvents and carb cleaners etc to clean aluminum engine parts and nothing worked as well as this stuff.
