Fuel problems
Fuel problems
My 86 iroc wont start. I can spray a little starting fluid in the intake and it will fire long enough to burn it off and then will die. To me, this sounds like a fuel pump. When you turn the key on you can hear the fuel pump kick on.
Any idea???

Re: Fuel problems
1) Change fuel filter - driver side in front of rear wheel.
2) Test the pressure at the fuel rail. You can rent for "free" a fuel pressure tester at any auto parts store. There is a Schraeder valve on the pass side fuel rail (liike like a tire valve) - screw tester on there, and test the pressure.
The fuel pump has a rubber hose that attaches it to the hard line in the tank - they rot away over time being in the gasoline all the time.
I'm guessing your filter is clogged, or that rubber hose in the gas tank is toast.
