Dyiing at Idle
Strangeness.
Our 91 Z28 has been running decent, except everytime the woman drives it, she hits something or something breaks.... Which is expected, as she also has a 'black' thumb as a gardener, and everything she touches seems to wither and die... I think she's posessed
.
Anyhoo, the last week the old gal (the car) has started dying at idle sometimes... at first I just thought it was when she was hot, but yesterday it happened first thing in the AM. If I 'cycle' the ignition (restart, restart, restart) she'll usually start running normal, idles at 500 +/-. Even when she won't idle she runs nice as long as you give just a wee throttle, and is drivable and powerful if you left foot brake well.
She's a TPI 305, mildly cammed, standard timing. Just cleaned and resealed the EGR, checked voltage at TPS (OK) and the IAC seems to be functioning properly. Manifold vacuum steady at 20-21. Having a real bear of a time figuring this one out... If something is going to break, just break! This intermittent stuff messes with my head,
.
Hoping someone has seen something like this and has some ideas! TIA!

Re: Dyiing at Idle
Checked fuel pressure and it was good... but I suppose that doesn't mean it's good all the time... And when I checked it, she was in a good mood. I suppose I'll check it next time it doesn't want to idle and see what's what.

I would definitely check the pressure when it acts up or when it has ran for a while(hot). Hope all works out for ya.
