IAC acting funny
I'm trying to adjust my idle speed up to about 750 RPM, currently sits at about 550 in gear and burns a lot of oil. Bumping up my idle speed solves the blue smoke cloud problem but I'm having trouble accomplishing this properly.
Problem has three parts:
1. I've burned a chip with the idle speed vs coolant temp adjusted to reflect my desired new setting, but the idle speed remains the same as before.
2. When I connect the A and B pins on the ALDL and turn the key on to perform minimum air adjustment, the IAC retracts the pintle instead of extending - so when I start the engine with the IAC disconnected, it sits at ~2200 RPM even with the minimum air screw retracted. I'm pretty sure the electrical connector is properly oriented as the idle is controlled (mostly) correctly in normal operation.
3. When I have my Moates' Autoprom connected to the ALDL for monitoring and logging, the engine idles much higher than normal - roughly 900 RPM in gear vs. the 550 it sits at with the Autoprom disconnected. I can remove the connector and within a few seconds the idle is back down to normal.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
