Injector recommendation pleeease.

I think I need injectors. What size/rate injectors do I need for a 305 but that can work with the warm 355 I'm building. Is one brand better than another? What about the remanned sets on ebay?

Thanks.

Its an '89 TPI in an IROC

Re: Injector recommendation pleeease.

i think the 305's are 19# and the 350's used 21#. not sure if the 21#'s would hurt anything on the 305 or not tho. I usually steer clear of ebay... had too many bad experiences. Other than that i think the bosch ones are a good choice. just my

Re: Injector recommendation pleeease.

stock injectors for a 305 are 19#, 350 are 22#. I got my injectors off a seller on ebay who offers flow matched injectors and a lifetime warranty for $140. They are ford 19# injectors. The stock GM TPI injectors are junk from what I've been told(?) because they are prone to leaks/failures. I haven't installed mine yet so I can't be much help, but I (at this point) feel confident in the seller I bought mine from. (precision auto injectors) Really nice/helpful/honest seller. JMO

Re: Injector recommendation pleeease.

I beileieve the 305's were 19/lb/hr and the 350's are 22lb/hr, thing is, lot's of guys have run the 19's on 350's...and run better with prom mods, now depends on how "warm" the 350 is after the rebuild if you can supply enough fuel with 19's for it...which will require you to do somer tinkering in the prom...I wouldn't get larger injectors for the smaller engine just because you're going to swap "someday".

Re: Injector recommendation pleeease.

Thats not the only reason. The thing runs like crap and I want to get all the peripherals sorted out before I change longblocks. It's just about untouched at 140K mi. and I thought injectors, a regulator, and some other parts might settle the 305 down, and make the engine swap less painful. If I changed motors now, I might never sort all the bugs out.

And warm means I'd like to make 275-300 ponies without boost.

Well, before you throw parts and $$ at it, might be best to correct he issues(as you mentioned)...so maybe another post with what problems you have, can get to the issues.

No use dropping 2 big bills on injectors, and have the engine run just the same

Re: Injector recommendation pleeease.

I've posted a couple of times and gotten some good advice on setting the tps and iac and such, but the motor still has a rough, unreliable idle and shakes at around 2500-2700 rpm, which is right where I always seem to be running. Right now I've got the IAC fully closed and disconnected. It idles rough and won't go below 1300 rpm. With the (new) IAC hooked up, it surges and dies. The EGR holds vacuum. I'm to the point of just changing stuff out, since it's all so old anyway.

Re: Injector recommendation pleeease.

I also purchased some of the PAI injectors from eBay. I purchased them for my 305, but after an engine swap from a totaled 88 IROC, I am wondering if the new "Ford" injectors would be enough to run the 350? Any ideas? It is actually pretty easy to swap the injectors so I will probably just swap them and see the difference and let you all know the results.
One more thing, how can I determine what injector connection goes to what injector. Mine are still in the "pair" configuration, but I was an IDIOT and did not mark them per cylinder when I took the old harness off.

Re: Injector recommendation pleeease.

I just bought Accel injectors and installed them in my 305 (stock 19# part#ACC-150819) They are awesome! They definitely upgraded them from the stock GM ones (which are made by Bosch) and the tech guys there at Accel really know their stuff. If I were you'd I'd give them a ring and ask them about your upgrade....

ok, well the engine "swap" went smoothly and is complete, now I can't get it started. It turns over, but it won't start. Any ideas?
