Re: Starting issues
Actually, as soon as this post went up, I started having the same problem. For instance, as soon as I turn the key on - but before starting - I wait until I hear my electric pump finish its whining prime. Then, I start it. However, if I shut it off and try to start it again within a half hour, it will just crank and I have to go old school (pumping gas pedal) to get it to start. Is this the problem both of you have/had?

Re: Starting issues
I'm look at replacing the fuel pump relay - helluva lot easier than the fuel pump, and cheap to try $10).
The oil pressure swending unit will kick in the fuel pump IF the relay is not working, but it takes a few seconds to register the oil pressure. Sounds like exactly what's happening.
Normally, the fuel pump primes (a programmed function of the ECM when key turned on), and then, when car staretd, the ECM will run the fuel pump as soon as it "sees" a steady ignition (distributor).
So, it's also possible (I suppose) that something might be wrong with your ESC, or distributor, or ECM as well. But I'd try a new relay first.

Re: Starting issues
On my TBI car, it was on firewall, driver side, inside a bracket between the fender and the brake booster - there were two relays there, one for fuel pump, one for electric fan. But exact location on a TPI car I'm unsure.
