sd tuned cars
Just curious really my 92 z28 is of course a sd tuned car no maf. My question is with a mafless setup will the car recognize when I do bolt ons and air changes like a maf setup or wouldi constantly have to retune it for every mod ? I noticed when I redid my exhaust today that it had a 2 1/4 cat I pipe and flowmaster it always smelled kinda rich and even worse when I cleaned out the cat. Well now its got a new 3in magnaflow cat and 3in magnaflow catback it pulls much smoother and has no fuel smell hardly at all. I haven't checked my timing yetto see where its at the idle is right at 700 and I run 93 octaine non ethenol have no pinging and such. I know my 03 yukon with 5.3 is maf and when I first got it and still ran 87 gas I put a 4in cai on it and the first trip out under wot it pinged and valves chattered but after a few days of normal driving it pulled like a raped ape its been tuned for 93 now and has full boltons but when I did that intake I noticed the biggest pcm compensation.

Re: sd tuned cars
MAF is much more forgiving to modifications than SD without tuning.
If you plan on doing much more, you should get your hands on a Snap-On Ethos, MT2500, GM Tech2, TunerProRT, or something else that'll stream live data.
I wasn't able to go too far with my SD without tuning. Tuning made a whole world of a difference.
