L98 Intake clogged

Before I pulled off the intake assembly on my GTA the car was running a little rough; it didn't quite sound like a good L98 with flowmasters should - muffled almost - and it obviously didn't have full power and would stall after a bit. So I pulled off all of the intake parts with the intent of maybe porting those or upgrading to higher flow parts. Once I pealed off the manifold I found some serious issues. I am posting a couple of short vids for ya'll to see - hope someone may know what may have caused this so I don't have to tear into it this far (at least until I swap out the heads/cam/and valve-train ) again right after making the mods I want to. Thanks for any comments.

That is the rear coolant crossover. It is not necessary. A lot of aftermarket intakes have no rear coolant crossover (HSR, miniram) and I think on the vettes the rear coolant crossover is blocked off.

I don't think that would cause a problem with the car running properly if it was blocked with crude. Keep looking you probably have something else wrong with the car. Have you done a compression check on the motor by any chance?

Re: L98 Intake clogged

it is dried coolant.
the intake gaskets were leaking a little bit around those ports which is what causes the coolant to jell up.

the FIRST intake that Moe posted the link to is a good up grade.
it isn't cheap, but it is the complete intake, base, fuel rails, runners, plenum and throttle body.
you can go with one of the other aftermarket bases and a set of aftermarket runners, but that way isn't cheap either. add in an aftermarket throttle body and your getting close the the price of a FIRST.
you would need an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator to go with the FIRST, but unless you have recently replaced the stock regulator, your probably ready for a new one anyway.
with major port work, the other TPI LTR bases and runners end about where the FIRST is right out of the box.
