Vortec heads?

Hi I'm wondering if it would be worth it going with vortec heads and adding a cam on a 350. Or should I just keep stock heads and add my 2032 cam. My goal is 300rwhp I was thinking the vortec heads and a 268xfi cam. Right now I got all bolt ons and full exhaust. (Any more info lmk I really suck at explanning what I want to say.)
Oh and my stock 350 heads are the 083'heads

Re: Vortec heads?

With the vortec heads and a cam, you'll notice a huge difference. Not saying you'll see 300rwhp, but remember that total peak HP, is only one small part of the story. For a STREET car, stoplight to stoplight, I think you'll like the vortec and cam, combo.

....just remember that the heads are relatively cheap, but require some work to allow for higher lift cams, AND you'll need a new manifold to allow the heads to bolt up. I love the idea of a vortec TPI, but there's an argument to be made for it being too expensive for what you get.

Re: Vortec heads?

and also there is another argument being that the vortec base is one of the worst flowing aftermarket base ever.it barely outflows the stock manifold.... the standard highflow base flows alot better...... but i agree for a stoplight to stoplight car you should like it....
