L98-89iroc high idle

There's more to it.The car starts hard first start up.Sometimes have to hit it with a shot of starting fluid.Runs good once started.Dose blow blue smoke cause of seals.Take it for a 10 mile drive and wants to run fast at the first red light.Put in nuetral and might go up as high as 1500-2500rpm.get home and pop hood.the throtle isn't touching the screw.manuely push it back and idles about 1000rpm.give it gas and back up it gose.To top it off today when getting close to home, taking off from a stop sign it run ruff and lacked power. Now this is the first time I let the gas gauge get under 1/4 tank.I read the repare manuel and wonder if the TPS or the IAC valve could be the trouble. The car sat for a long time before I got it.Run sea foam throgh it and 2 tanks of premeum gas and was doing good until about half way through the second tank. anything guys?

Re: L98-89iroc high idle

For the fun of it with the engine running I unhooked the TPS.Almost no change.Hooked it up and unhooked the IAC valve and forsure no change. While running unhooked the MAF and she shut down like now! Q. When I bought this car the MAF wasn't even hooked up and the car would start and run. Why did it stop running when I unhooked it? Next thing I put 6 gal. gas and some seafoam in the tank. played around with the throtle from under the hood and if I hit it kind of hard and let it go fast it would go all the way back to a 700rpm idle most of the time.If I increased slowly and released slowly I would have a high idle.1500-2500rpm. what kind of things might cause the spring tention to change?
