help needed

My 86 305 has very little power. the fuel pressure checks out and the plugs, wires and distributor have been very recently replaced. i just replaced the MAF and still the same results. it wont go over 4000 rpms and it bogs out when you give it full throttle. im starting to think it may have somthing to do with the vacuum lines and i dont know where to start looking or what really to look for so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: help needed

ive done 2 different checks on the fuel pressure, the first time i used a fuel pressure gauge and it was at about 42-43 then i checked it the way my haynes manual told me how and it checked out then too. it is shooting two codes, the MAF and TPS. i replaced the MAF and i had the same results and i tried it with the TPS unplugged and it did the same thing. But i will definately try those other suggestions, thank you very much

Re: help needed

it had me unscrew the fuel line and then connect a wire from the battery to the fuel pump part of the diagnostics port to turn it on and run it for 15 seconds into a jug or anything to catch the gas. it said you had to get at least a half pint and i got more than that. how do you check to see if it is the injectors?

How did Haynes manual instruct you to check your fuel pressure? You need to do it with the car idling and the vaccum hose plugged.

Re: help needed

Could be a clogged cat. For the vacuum lines, use a can of starter fluid or carb cleaner. Spray around the lines, ports, intake manifold, etc. Small sprays. If the idle increases, you've found a leak.

Re: help needed

if u replace the tps, since u don't have a speed density car you will have to set the tps for the car to run correctly.

Re: help needed

Check and clean all ground connections to the engine near the distributor, especially the ground strap from the intake manifold to the firewall.

Re: help needed

Thank you everyone for all the help, i figured out that the electical connections at the MAF and TPS just needed to be cleaned out and now it is running great.
