I'm possibly bout to buy an 87 iroc, it has a 5.7 tpi, auto.. It has the four wheel disc brakes, 3.27* rear axle.... 225 hp 330lbsft, what's the difference between that and the 92 245hp rating? Would changing to a carb set up benefit? Any set ups been done to gain some numbers? Any info would be cool, thanks!

 

the 92 has a slightly higher CR, flat top instead of dished pistons. Cam is most likely different. No N10 dual cats. the 87 has a 9 bolt, the 92 won't have that. It will have a 31 spline 10 bolt. 87 also has v belts and flat belt for alternator, no serpentine like later years.

 

That makes a lot of sense. It's only 20 hp, nothing crazy... My plans were to build it anyways... Just wondering. Mainly wondering, bc I didn't know if keeping tpi was worth it or swapping to a nasty carb conversion.... Which would be cheaper, and gain the most.
